I am Suraj Pattar, a Staff Engineer in the Frontier Robotics Department at Honda R&D. I work in research and development on Honda’s humanoid Avatar robot including perception (vision, tactile), manipulation and AI support systems.

I earned my PhD in Robotics and AI from Chubu University in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Hironobu Fujiyoshi. The degree was completed through an industry-embedded program, allowing me to combine academic research with real-world deployment.

During this time, I worked full-time at Connected Robotics, leading computer vision development across both deployed products and applied research projects.

Earlier, I completed a master’s degree in Advanced Robotics through a joint program at École Centrale Nantes in France and University of Genoa in Italy.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing the ukulele, practicing yoga, traveling, and organic farming.
